High-Throughput VSAT Broadband Internet Service
The HTS VSAT Solution
Elite Telecoms offers a High-Throughput VSAT Internet (HTS VSAT) solution, developed on the global Intelsat HTS / Flex platform, that provides a managed business broadband Internet (or last-mile access) service based on the latest VSAT technology available. The service offers low-cost, broadband access for professionals, business and other users who are “off-grid” and who do not have other alternative network options.
HTS VSAT provides affordable, high-speed, Internet connectivity to clients living or working in remote or under-serviced areas or in areas in which the quality of existing terrestrial connectivity is inadequate. It offers professional users and small businesses superior broadband access, cloud services and IP telephony services over the southern Africa region. Utilizing the Intelsat EPIC IS33-e Satellite and iDirect’s Velocity VSAT technology on Ku-band, we can offer bandwidth speeds in South Africa of up to 3Mbps upload and 20Mbps download.
Guaranteed signal coverage is provided at any location in South Africa with the same terminal equipment with a proven network service availability of 99,5%. This ensures trusted and reliable communications for financial services and business critical applications and communications. The service connects to the Internet at a teleport in Krugersdorp, South Africa or the service can be used as a "last mile" access service with a network cross-connect at Teraco, Isando.
Operating on the Intelsat EPIC IS33-e satellite, the solution provides:

The Equipment
Remote VSAT Terminals
Each HTS VSAT terminal installation requires a 1,2m antenna dish, mounted outside with a clear view in a northerly direction of the satellite at a look-angle of approximately 47 degrees. The BUC and LNB are connected via a dual transmit/receive cable (usually up to 30m) to an indoor iDirect X7 or IQ satellite modem. The satellite modem provides an Ethernet port to interface with the local LAN at the remote site.
